About Our Client

Our client is a rapidly expanding independent manufacturer of Material Handling products. Their aim is to provide high quality products with a service level to match. Their manufacturing plant has ‘state-of-the-art’ Rotational Moulding systems installed where they can produce a wide range of mouldings from polyethylene material. Our client’s proprietary products are widely used in many industry sectors which include Food, Pharmaceutical, Engineering, Electronics, Laundries, and Textiles and they can supply many of their products in a choice of colours to assist with colour coding and product segregation. To complement their standard range, they also stock and distribute a wide range of complimentary products manufactured by major European Industrial Groups. With over 25 years’ experience they can also offer custom moulding facilities where clients’ specific individual requirements can be manufactured from a purpose designed mould subject to minimum quantities.

Roles & Responsibilities

Our client is looking for a professional candidate that is driven, self-motivated, and has a positive ‘can-do’ attitude. Previous experience working in a sales/commercial environment is essential with the focus on the sale of products.

You will be responsible for looking after your own geographical area, developing key relationships and adding real value to the business.

This ecommerce business has excellent IT systems in place to make the sales process work effectively, you will be IT savie with experience in ecommerce. You will be responsible for assisting the internal sales function. Responding to enquiries in efficient and effective manner offering a great customer service experience whilst maximising sales. You will report to the Commercial Manager and may be required to offer cover to other areas of the business in periods of absence or holiday.

The Main role:

  • Management of enquiries. Responding to customer’s enquiries via telephone or email in an efficient and effective manner ensuring to meet an excellent level of customer service. Accurately quoting correct products and specifications whilst offering advice and recommendations where required.
  • Negotiating sales, costs, deliveries and specifications with clients.
  • Developing client relationships.
  • Acting as a point of contact between customers in your area.
  • Gathering market and customer information to forecast the customer needs
  • Responding to customer queries and resolving their objections to get them to make a purchase
  • Learning and developing skills on the Sageline 50 system. Develop knowledge on how to find customers’ orders, locate products, check stock, run sales acknowledgements, proforma invoices, & delivery notes are all key to ensure efficiency in dealing with any common customer enquiry. An understanding of how PODs are generated for both parcel and pallet carriers is also useful.
  • ACT database system is used to create most quotes. Quotes need to be created and logged properly. It may be necessary to also use other functions within ACT that could relate to any on-going marketing activities. General up-keep of the ACT database is essential and new or amended contact/company information must be updated.
  • Assist with managing the group ‘sales’ inbox to ensure all enquiries are dealt with efficiently.
  • Proactively following up on quotes sent to customers, especially any over £2K that are logged specifically on the project list within the ‘P’ drive system. Any information gained during follow ups must be logged properly on the project list, with ACT updated at the same time where necessary.
  • Assist with any after-sales enquiries that may arise. This may be an ETA, product query, or delivery issue. Any enquiries of this nature in usual circumstances will be passed over to the after-sales team.

These points identify the key areas within the Internal Sales Executive role and contribute towards the overall function of the area. Other jobs may arise on a day-to-day basis that will need to be carried out although not specifically stated.

Skills Required

  • Proven experience in an internal sales/commercial role – product not service
  • Commercially aware
  • Ecommerce experience
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritise
  • IT Literate with experience/knowledge of Sage/ACT or similar database platforms/systems
  • Driven and motivated with the ability to use own initiative and meet targets
  • Confident communicator with the ability to interact on all levels

TRAINING: Full training will be provided to complete the job. There is an element of ‘on the job’ training within the role but regular appraisals and performance reviews will be carried out.

HOURS OF WORK: 8.30 – 5.00pm Monday – Friday, 30 minutes for lunch

HOLIDAY: 20 days holiday plus bank holidays

HEALTH & SAFETY: No current issues to report on site
