NATURE OF BUSINESS:

Provide building repairs and catastrophic disaster management. They use a mix of their own Site Operatives and a network of specialist contractors to provide repairs to varying degrees of property damage.

They are members of the Charted Institute of Building (CIOB) and undertake professional qualifications within the membership to expand knowledge and experience in the industry. Their staff members also undertake examinations and progression through the Charted Institute of Insurance (CII) and other professional bodies dependent on the role.

Roles & Responsibilities

Our client is seeking a pro-active, qualified accountant to join their client’s finance team in a brand-new role as Finance Manager. The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing and developing the financial side of the privately owned, and fast-growing organisation.

This role will suit a current Finance Manager working in a small and dynamic business, big or small, with experience in growth and scale up businesses. The successful applicant will have a fantastic opportunity to develop and enhance their skills and experience. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Finance Manager will be responsible for managing accounting, transaction processing, financial accounting and reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the monthly preparation and review of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow for the business, providing narrative to the Board.
  • Assist the Finance Director in the development of the company’s annual budget and forecasts.
  • Preparation and submission of weekly and monthly payroll to payroll provider.
  • Management of all business tax requirements, namely PAYE, VAT and CIS returns.
  • Conduct financial analysis, identifying key trends and providing strategic insights to the management team which will assist in decision-making.
  • Prepare and submit weekly payment run reports to the Finance Director for review and approval.
  • Prepare and deliver insightful financial reports to senior management on a regular basis including daily banking and cash flow reporting.
  • Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled each month.
  • Prepare year-end statutory accounts file for the business. Coordinate the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
  • Implement and maintain effective controls, systems, and processes to support the evolving needs of our high-growth business.
  • Look at ways of further streamlining the automation process from claims management system (Helios) to Xero
  • Assist the Finance Director with ad hoc projects as and when requested.

Skills Required

  • A qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years post-qualified experience, preferably within an SME.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Experience with Xero Accounting software.
  • Experience and knowledge in accounting standards and principles.
  • Sound collaboration and communication skills.
  • Have produced monthly management packs within a strict reporting timeframe.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

HOURS OF WORK: 8:45 – 5.00pm Monday to Friday with 45 min Lunch

HOLIDAY: 25 days plus bank holidays, an extra 16 hours of time off in lieu taken at no more than two-hour slots which equates to the total of 27 days plus bank holidays.  An additional day is also given for your Birthday if it falls on a weekday.
