Feeling the Exam stress? Here’s how best to focus

It is normal to feel the stress and be a bit worried about exams, you may feel anxious or depressed and it might be affecting your sleeping along with eating habits. It can become overwhelming and affect your mental health. Here are some tips to help if it’s all getting a bit too much.

Are you struggling with stress? Remember you’re not alone

Let your trusted friends and family know if you’re struggling. A problem shared can sometimes feel like a problem halved. They can try to support you in addition to this offer a listening ear. Don’t bottle it up!

Ask for help, think about all the practical support needed and be honest with yourself about it, talk though your feelings with your teacher/tutor maybe they can offer assistance. There may be other students that they can direct you to that are in the same boat. You could form a support group with them?

Be kind to yourself, forget about the stress

Remind yourself of what you have achieved so far, you have probably come further that you remember. Write it down if it helps additionally include a list of what you like about yourself. Take some time away from the books to just relax and forget for a moment.

Revision tips

Firstly, try breaking it up into chunks and create yourself a timetable so you are not always revising. Secondly, be realistic about what you can achieve in a day. Thirdly, take regular breaks ensure you’re getting enough fluids and snacks – feed the brain. Remember not everyone studies the same so don’t compare yourself to others.

Exam results do not define who you are.
