They are members of the Charted Institute of Building (CIOB) and undertake professional qualifications within the membership to expand knowledge and experience in the industry. Their staff members also undertake examinations and progression through the Charted Institute of Insurance (CII) and other professional bodies dependent on the role.

Roles & Responsibilities

Working as part of our clients Technical Team, you are one of the go-to people for managing large, technical and complex repair work involving commercial, residential and industrial properties. You demonstrate and implement successful strategies to deliver projects from end to end, whilst being part of a technical hub of knowledge to assist other departments when negotiating Third Party Property Damage (TTPD claims). All this whilst ensuring all works are compliant, commercially sound and completed to the highest of standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend sites across the UK to carry out surveys solo or with the accompaniment of engineers, building surveyors, subcontractors or other professionals, to determine cause of loss, and create a repair scheme to reinstate the damaged property to the correct level of indemnity.
  • Manage the TPPD claim throughout its lifecycle, responsible for progressing within agreed upon SLAs, compiling all relevant documentation to support its journey including but not limited to cashflow forecasts, programmes of work, variations, schedules, quotes, reports, court compliant reports.
  • Set the standard for health and safety and statutory compliance across works involving local authority liaison, listed building officers, environment agency, highways departments, building control and other entities.
  • Manage and lead a team of directly employed and subcontracted operatives onsite and remotely, answering site queries, ensuring quality assurance, project delivery, all within agreed timeframes and tolerances.
  • Manage all internal and external stakeholders within the process, adapting to preferred communication styles and methods, delivering a bespoke service to suit the needs of the individual.
  • Provide a go-to referral point for all matters relating to the world of construction, staying up to date with current matters affecting the built environment we operate in, apt at procuring new information when needed.
  • Conducting desk-based file reviews assisting with formal and informal referrals on high value, technically complex buildings damage and unconventional items to provide a written report, guidance for the attending Surveyor, or cost recommendations and where needed, compiling court compliant documents.
  • Undertaking additional duties on an occasional or ongoing basis as requested by management to support the wider Building Solutions Team, or to support the technical buildings knowledge of the wider business.

A skilled project manager with a passion for construction and the built environment. You’ll attend a variety of damages to a myriad of property types, to determine the works required to reinstate the loss. You’ll be involved within and responsible for the entire pre and construction phase of works from surveying and costing to project delivery, working with internal and subcontracted individuals.

Skills Required

  • Have excellent knowledge of the built environment and for anything you don’t know, you know where and how you can find the answer.
  • Have delivered projects involving residential, industrial and commercial sites and are comfortable planning, costing, implementing and specifying the work.
  • At ease taking the lead and working with a variety of different people, with a proven track record of managing contractors while undertaking works.
  • Able to manage a variety of stakeholders effectively whilst spinning lots of plates managing your own workload, ensuring key deadlines and milestones are met.
  • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and skills with colleagues with a desire to upskill those around you who don’t possess the same knowledge as yourself.
  • Comfortable working on a variety of property impacts from domestic homes, commercial warehouses, to heritage assets. If a car can hit it, we can repair it.
  • You place Health and Safety at the forefront of everything you do.
  • Take pride in how you present yourself to customers and clients, always ensuring you are professional and polite.
  • Excellent communicator who can think on their feet when they need an immediate solution, adapting to people’s needs and situations.
  • You enjoy working at part of a wider team and collaborating to achieve the best possible result.
  • Would like to obtain your chartership in your chosen field.
  • Comfortable working in a role that involves being office based and out on site depending on the project’s needs.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or equivalent in relevant field.
  • Proven track record in managing and delivering construction projects.
  • A passion to excel and grow in whatever it is that you do.
  • A full, clean driving licence.
  • IT literate.

HOURS OF WORK: 8.45 – 5.00pm Monday to Friday with a break for lunch

HOLIDAY: 25 days plus bank holidays, an extra 16 hours of time off in lieu taken at no more than two-hour slots which equates to the total of 27 days plus bank holidays.  An additional day is also given for your Birthday if it falls on a weekday.
