Established in 1995, our client provides many of the UK’s most recognised financial brands with market leading software to support Training and Competence, Learning Management, Quality Assurance and Customer feedback.

They have many years of combined experience in the financial services sector showing their understanding of the needs of the industry and the challenges customers face.  They constantly refine modules to improve performance, sales quality and the customer experience.

Our client understands the importance of management information in keeping business both efficient and compliant.  The interoperability of their modules enables customers to drive improvements across business units.  For example, to initiate learning needs based on root cause analysis from complaints; to ensure that performance reviews are based on factual MI and that corrective action can be initiated and tracked; or to identify potential vulnerabilities and to automate intelligent file checking to mitigate risk.

Roles & Responsibilities

Our client is looking for an IT Manager to join our IT Infrastructure Team. The company provides leading financial institutions with workflow products that help manage their regulatory requirements, training & competency and customer care.  They are a small company of around 60 employees but with household name banking and financial services clients. Their services are in demand as banks outsource more of their IT and come under more compliance pressure from the industry regulators.

  • Responsible for all IT infrastructure and our client hosting services.
  • Contributing to the development of technology strategy, policy and procedures.
  • Successfully delivering all technology projects, on time and on budget.
  • Ensuring the business is meeting relevant IT/Cyber Security Standards and being point of contact for IT/Cyber Security within the business.
  • Provide direction and line management for the IT Team, including mentoring and developing team members through training.
  • Prepare budgets, manage costs, and present proposals for projects to the leadership team
  • Be able to act as the technical expert by providing leadership, mentoring to the team in the design and development of hosted IT solutions, technical design, hardware configuration, networking and software deployment.

Office is Milton Keynes but the role will be hybrid. It’s expected that employees attend the office twice a week, however this could be more depending on business needs, initially for training purposes maybe required to be in the office more often so must be prepared and happy with the commute.

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a leadership role or IT Manager
  • Deep knowledge of IT infrastructure topics
  • Our IT uses a Microsoft stack so a deep knowledge of this and Windows Server is essential.
  • Advanced knowledge in data centre topics
  • Advanced knowledge in network architecture
  • Knowledge in private and/or public clouds
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in coordinating complex change and harmonisation projects
  • Proficient in the use of M365
  • Highly organised, self-motivated and results driven
  • Ability to work on a high level of individual responsibility
  • Experience with service desk software
  • Analytical, structured, logical, lateral thinking and solid problem solving skills
  • Confident communication, oral and written
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all at all levels


  • Security certification
  • Microsoft Certification MCP, MSCA, MCSE
  • Ability to guide the team with hands-on experience would be beneficial
  • Public cloud experience with Azure or, ideally, AWS
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure As Code, either with PowerShell or Terraform

HOURS OF WORK: 9.00 – 5.30 Monday to Friday – Occasionally weekend and evening work may be required.

HOLIDAY: 26 Days Holiday plus Bank holidays


All interviews will be held on Teams.


First stage: Infrastructure Lead and Financial Controller

Second interview:  Chief Technical Officer and one other TBC 


The Office is open, and as such we expect colleagues to attend the office at least twice a week. It might be more depending on workload requirements. New candidates might be required to attend the office more to work with the team and learn the systems etc.
