This is a multimillion pound award winning organisation that has been well established in the East Midlands area now for decades. Producing packaging products for the food industry for well known blue chip clients, their key strengths lie in working closely with customers to produce innovative solutions to their needs.

Roles & Responsibilities

This is an excellent opportunity to train and develop a career in Technical Management in a successful company. Innovation and new product development is a vital part of the company’s strategy and the Technical Department are key to this. You will assist in the development of flexible packaging products and manufacturing processes and support our customers and sales team with respect to technical advice on packaging issues and development.

Main duties will include the following:

  • To take responsibility on specific internal and customer development projects as agreed with the Technical Manager.
  • To gain knowledge of material technology from the Technical Manager and through contact with base material suppliers.
  • To develop the ability to provide on-site technical support for customers, attend customer development meetings and liaise with the sales team to recommend suitable specifications for specific applications.
  • To assist in responding to all customer quality issues.
  • To assist in the production of technical standards and specifications for customers.
  • To assist with paperwork relating to customer and supplier complaints.
  • To develop and maintain contact with customer quality assurance departments, being notified of customer quality ratings, communicating results and coordinating actions.
  • To liaise with the Technical Manager and Operations Department on supplier trial availability and assessment.



Skills Required

• Science/technology degree (ideally including some food science/chemistry modules) 2:1+
• Good IT skills and particular knowledge/experience of MS Excel
• Ability to understand technical issues
• Determined and resourceful
• Confident
• Technical and methodical
• Ability to problem solve with a can do attitude
• Outgoing and friendly personality


Salary would commence at £25k moving on to £28k over a period of training.

This may include on the job coaching from personnel, supplier/customer visits, possible placements and external training or distance learning where appropriate.

33.75 hour week – Monday to Friday

HOLIDAY: 28 days and Bank Holidays
