You will gain all round experience in technical management, understanding the processes involved when dealing with clients, dealing with technical requirements and assisting with the production of technical specifications for new products as well as changes to current ones.

You will report to the Technical Manager. Main duties will include the following:

•  To take responsibility on specific internal and customer development projects as agreed with the Technical Manager.
• To gain knowledge of material technology from the Technical Manager and through contact with base material suppliers.
• To develop the ability to provide on-site technical support for customers, attend customer development meetings and liaise with the sales team to recommend suitable specifications for specific applications.
• To assist in responding to all customer quality issues.
•  To assist in the production of technical standards and specifications for customers.
• To assist with paperwork relating to customer and supplier complaints.
• To develop and maintain contact with customer quality assurance departments, being notified of customer quality ratings, communicating results and coordinating actions.
• To liaise with the Technical Manager and Operations Department on supplier trial availability and assessment.

There will inevitably be other duties and responsibilities in the future as the role and your career develop.

Communication will be key to this opportunity as you will be dealing with blue chip clients, internal departments as well as presenting information to management and Directors.

• Science degree – ideally Chemistry based/food science degree
• Good IT skills and particular knowledge/experience of MS Excel
• Ability to understand technical issues
