KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will work as part of a small, focused scrum team of developers, analysts and testers, developing new features, fixing bugs, supporting client deliveries and improving the CALMS technical platform.

Java with Spring and Hibernate is used on the server side, with Angular and TypeScript on the client side; typically, you will work front to back and be exposed to Java, the browser and the database, as well as their development and build toolchain.

There is a strong focus on quality and stability working by the mantra of “leave the code better than you find we found it, without compromising integrity”. You will be supported by code reviews and design discussions whilst collaboratively working on longer running products.

Strong testing (unit, integration and end-to-end) is used and test-driven development practises to both refactor and improve the code base without impacting current production features, this is supported by using code quality tools like Sonar to provide metrics coupled with nightly continuous deployment where Selenium and JBehave tests are run.

There will be daily SCRUMS to allow the team to synchronise tasks for the next 24 hours with the opportunity to attend lunch and learn sessions and additional training enhancements throughout the year, offered by our client.

Within this role there is a big emphasis on support and they have Graduates and intermediate developers work closely with their senior developers to enhance their skills and develop within the business, having the opportunity to enhance their current skills and develop exciting new ones.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: Developers work on developing and maintaining the flagship CALMS asset finance product.

There is also opportunity to travel, with offices in Europe, North America and Australia.

Skills Required

  • IT focused Degree (Ideally Computer Science, IT or Mathematic Degree)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task on various activities whilst maintaining standards and guidelines
  • You should enjoy collaborating with a team but will have the ability to work independently

Good working experience of their core technologies:

  • Java
  • JavaScript (using a framework such as Dojo or Angular.js)
  • HTML & CSS
  • CSS
  • SQL, in the form of Oracle, SQL Server, MySql etc
