Roles & Responsibilities

The Graduate Internal Commercial Executive will interact with existing customers to ensure they are provided with excellent service and through these interactions identify business opportunities in order to increase interest and qualify leads for the Outside Sales team.

They will develop a keen understanding of software and service offerings and their use and value to customers.  They will also be able to close smaller deals. The objective is to grow the business within their customer base by providing knowledgeable advice and a clear communication channel to maximise their investment. The role will require working with the Sales Team and Senior Management on Account Plan Strategies.


  • Regular contact with the customer base utilising a wide range of communication methods, calling, emails, social and other media.
  • Development of business relationships with end users in order to understand their needs and requirements and their business and how it might develop with particular interest in their perceptions of the service level received.
  • Develop leads and qualify all leads from the customer base, allocate as appropriate, and drive leads through the sales process by initiating face-to-face appointments with the External Sales team.
  • Follow up with each External Sales Representative, post meeting. Determine result of respective meeting and follow up appropriately to close the loop.
  • Meet daily, weekly, and monthly phone and email communication goals/KPI’s in accordance with the sales plan, developed by the Sales Director.
  • Consistently log and record each-and-every outreach made, in the CRM, producing regular activity reports as requested by the Sales Director.
  • Act as a bridge between Marketing, Customer Support and Sales. Be aware of each marketing initiative, Customer Support Initiative and work toward corporate objectives.
  • Close smaller deals independently (£10K and under) and earn sales commission/bonus.
  • Ad hoc assistance with new business, customer support and marketing as required.

Skills Required

  • Educated to The Graduate standard – relevant studies
  • Ability to understand the software and services offerings and to communicate their value proposition to customers and prospects.  
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, policies and procedures within small and medium sized businesses. 
  • Ability to understand the business issues facing end users (particularly Finance Director’s) and to be able to articulate and recognise where the company solution would be relevant. 
  • Must have the ability to understand the businesses key marketing messages and deliver these effectively to end users (particularly Finance Directors). 
  • Must interact effectively with all levels of management and staff, internally and externally. 
  • Experience in lead nurturing, lead generation, and appointment setting. 
  • Understanding of the sales cycle, with the ability to close smaller deals. 
  • Must be adaptable, professional, courteous and motivated, and must work well individually or as a member of a team.  
  • Strong internet research skills required. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills. A desire to apply these skills to the presentation of webinars and seminars. 
  •  Awareness of a broad range of social media platforms and experience in use of some of them. The ability to develop using these platforms to communicate with customers.
  •  IT literacy including the ability to use the Microsoft office suite and a CRM effectively, with knowledge of business applications like accounting packages and awareness of cyber security issues. 
  •  Highly organised and attentive to detail.
  • Self-starting with solid follow-through and multi-tasking capabilities. 
  • Ability to handle a challenging workload with a large number of low touch projects in progress at one time.
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to succeed. 
  • An inquiring mind and strong intellectual credentials. Likely to have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in a related field.
