They have secured National and European funding in aerospace, transport, healthcare and biochemical sectors, and work with organisations such as MAS, MTA, MTC and PERA in a drive to continually improve their business. They are always enthusiastic about exploring new areas of business in partnership with their customers and their needs.

Roles & Responsibilities

As an applications engineer you will be involved in project work in an industrial setting which includes the preparation, testing and commissioning of a range of machine-vision products. The role will include supporting the sales team by offering technical support and solutions to new clients. All aspects of the role will involve problem solving and tailoring a solution to the requirements of the customer. Time will be spent in the office and also at customers’ sites located across the UK and occasionally abroad. You will quickly become an integral part of a small, friendly team and be involved in all aspects of the projects – from pre-sales to completion.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Configure industrial camera systems
  • Do basic low voltage wiring & fault finding
  • Industrial PC Installation and setup
  • Spend time on site at customer’s factory
  • Will involve interacting with the customer, other contractors and suppliers
  • Will involve basic mechanical and electrical installation as well as some “programming”
  • Will involve overseeing the system run, challenging with samples, validating settings etc

Post install support

  • Phone support
  • Remote-access intervention
  • “Warranty” visits to address problems on site
  • Training the customer on the supplied system

Sales support

  • Learn product ranges to be able to make choices and recommendations
  • Internal Sales Support
  • Customer facing sales support

Skills Required


  • A relevant degree or equivalent within Engineering
  • Presentable with good written and spoken English
  • Methodically minded with an eye for detail and quality
  • Able to use Initiative for problem solving
  • Organised, able to prioritise workloads and work to tight deadlines
  • Self-driven, positive outlook
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects
  • Works well in a team and alone
  • Willingness to learn and progress within a technical industry
  • Full driving licence with own transport preferred due to
  • Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft applications


  • Some written/spoken German
  • Familiarity with mechanical/electrical hand tools and basic assembly & wiring tasks
  • Ability to build relationships with a variety of people, for whom English may not be 1st language
  • Have knowledge of Electronics / Vision Systems
  • Software engineering development skills

Hours of Work:

  • 30-9am– to 5-5.30pm, 1 hour lunch
  • These hours may extend during site work, and may require working to customer shift patterns on occasion, and adherence to customer site rules/regulations


  • Up to 25k depending upon experience
  • 3 Month probation, with short notice
  • Set out goals each quarter and assess progress
  • Review and performance related pay rise each quarter during 1st year
  • 6-12 month reviews thereafter
  • Expectation to be on £35k within 2 years (Based on goals above)
  • Expectation to be at senior engineer level within 5 years, managing own projects, workload, customers and working with junior


  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays – Increases with time served
